Sue Turner OBE

Sue Turner OBE is a highly regarded cyber security and AI governance keynote speaker, known for helping boards and senior leaders understand digital risk, resilience, and trust. Her work focuses on the secure adoption of artificial intelligence, data protection, and governance, translating complex cyber and AI challenges into clear leadership decisions. Sue combines strategic authority with technical fluency, making her a trusted voice for organisations operating in regulated and high-risk digital environments.

Sue currently holds the role of Professor in Practice for AI and Technologies at the University of Bristol Business School, a position that places her at the forefront of executive education on cyber security, AI governance, and board accountability. Alongside this, she is Founder of AI Governance Limited, a specialist consultancy advising organisations on responsible AI, data ethics, and cyber risk frameworks. Unlike many speakers in this space, Sue brings CEO-level leadership experience, legal training, and hands-on technical capability, including coding in Python and building machine learning models.

Her career achievements span both public and private sectors. Sue was the youngest Regional Director of the Confederation of British Industry in the Southwest, later becoming Director of Communications at The Bristol Port Company. She then served as Chief Executive Officer of Quartet Community Foundation, where she led the growth of its endowment from £23 million to over £50 million, doubling annual grant-making. These leadership roles underpin her authority on governance, organisational resilience, and risk management, all critical to cyber security strategy.

Sue is ranked among the world’s Top 100 Women in AI Ethics and is among a pioneering global cohort accredited in the independent audit of AI systems. She is a Founder Member of the United Nations AI Skills Coalition and has developed proprietary Responsible AI and governance frameworks now used by multinational organisations. In recognition of her wider impact, Sue was awarded an OBE for Services to Social Justice.
