Initially beginning his career as a Mainframe Analyst and Programmer for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group, Stu also spent time as a DJ, producer, engineer and radio host under his company Stu Hirst Music. His next challenge came in 2011, when he became a Security/ Technical Analyst and PCI Compliance for thetrainline.com. After almost three years with Trainline, Stu moved on to become the Information Technology Security Manager for Skyscanner, a role in which he was responsible for everything from bot mitigation and next-gen firewalls to management of third party software and GDPR strategy.
Stu has also worked as the Head of Security Systems and Infrastructure Operations for Capital One and the Head of Cloud Security for Photobox, leading the security operations for the companies and ensuring they were protected against cybercrime. In 2019, Stu started work as the Principal Cloud Security Engineer for Just Eat, before being promoted to the Interim Director of InfoSec for Just Eat. Since then, Stu has also worked as a Member of the Board of Advisors for Nova Finance and the Co-Founder of Cyber Scotland Connect – igniting a passionate Scottish security community.
