Rebecca Taylor

Rebecca Taylor is an award-winning cyber security professional, threat intelligence specialist and speaker, recognised for her ability to make complex security issues accessible and human centred. Currently working as a Threat Intelligence Knowledge Manager and Researcher at Sophos, she is widely respected for translating frontline threat intelligence into insight that supports stronger decision making. As an author, Rebecca brings a clear, practical voice to cyber security, making her a valued contributor to conversations around digital risk, responsibility and resilience.

Rebecca began her career outside cyber security, working in customer facing and commercial roles across account management, sales support and operations. After completing a degree in English and Creative Writing at the University of Portsmouth, she developed strong communication and analytical skills that would later define her work in cyber intelligence. In 2014, she joined Secureworks in a marketing and administrative analyst role, where she quickly discovered a passion for cyber security. She progressed through programme management and operational roles, steadily building exposure to incident response and threat intelligence environments.

Her expertise deepened as she moved into knowledge management roles supporting live security incidents, before transitioning fully into threat intelligence. In 2022, Rebecca became Secureworks’ first Threat Intelligence Knowledge Manager, formalising her role in structuring and communicating intelligence at scale. In 2025, she joined Sophos as Threat Intelligence Knowledge Manager and Researcher, further strengthening her standing within the industry. Alongside her professional work, she authored ‘Securely Yours: An Agony Aunt’s Guide to Surviving Cyber’. Her contributions have been widely recognised, including being named Computing’s Cybersecurity Professional of the Year in 2025 and winning Security Woman of the Year at the Computing Security Excellence Awards.

Rebecca is hired as a speaker because she combines technical authority with empathy and clarity. She is a passionate advocate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and has mentored more than 150 women into cyber careers. As a TEDx speaker, she delivered the talk ‘Digital Shadows: The Perils of Premature Footprints‘, exploring the long term impact of online behaviour on children and families. Her speaking style connects cyber security to everyday life, empowering audiences to understand risk and act with confidence.
