Chelsea’s career began with a First-Class Honours degree in Ethical Hacking from a university in Dundee. She quickly advanced in the field, securing a key role as Head of Security Operations – Social Security for the Scottish Government, where she played a crucial part in shaping national cybersecurity policy. Her expertise and leadership led to her appointment as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at The MDU, where she oversees the company’s security operations and cyber defence strategies. Alongside her professional roles, she has been a STEM ambassador since 2012, actively working to promote diversity and equal opportunities in technology, inspiring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
In recent years, Chelsea has continued to expand her influence. She founded Neon Circle, a cybersecurity consultancy, where she serves as Managing Director, advising businesses on digital security and resilience. Her contributions have earned her numerous accolades, including being named among the UK’s top CISOs, listed as one of the Top 20 Most Inspiring Women in Cyber, and winning Inspirational Woman of the Year at the Scottish Women in Tech Awards. She is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on online age verification, a critical issue in digital safety.
