A distinguished cyber security professional with a decorated history, Professor Victoria Baines is revered for her exemplary work in international law enforcement and cyber security. A futurist with a strong research background, Victoria is currently working as the IT Livery Company Professor of IT for Gresham College and a Visiting Fellow of Bournemouth University, spreading her expert knowledge on the future of technology and cyber security. Sought to appear on the BBC and CNN, Victoria is also highly popular as a keynote speaker, focussing on navigating global cyber-diplomacy and online safety issues.

Back in 2005, Victoria began her career working as a Higher Intelligence Analyst for Surrey Police, responsible for investigations into police officer misconduct and developing strategies on combatting organised crime. In 2007, she became the Principal Analyst for SOCA and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, researching into online child protection, future thinking and emerging technologies. Learning all there is to know about online security and protection, Victoria was then recruited as the Team Lead of Strategy & Prevention at the European Cybercrime Centre for Europol. In this role, Victoria led analysis and creative thinking on future-orientated intelligence, and generated stakeholder engagement in the mission for a safer internet. Renowned for her impact on the cyber security industry, Victoria was also responsible for creating the EU’s flagship threat assessment for cybercrime – iOCTA.

In 2013, Victoria was appointed as the Trust & Safety Manager EMEA for Facebook, working to ensure that the social media giant kept its users safe from the hands of cyber criminals and emerging threats. Since then, Victoria has turned her attention to research and academia, having worked as a Visiting Associate of the Oxford Internet Institute and a Visiting Research Fellow of the Oxford Department of International Development. She has also acted as a Visiting Research Fellow of the University of Oxford, a Senior Advisor of ECPAT International and an Advisory Board Member of Reliance Acsn. Continuing her passion for ensuring child safety, Victoria is also a Board Trustee of The Lucy Faithfull Foundation, a charity committed to the prevention of child sexual abuse.
