Andrew Amery

A pioneering individual of security planning, risk assessments and security concepts, Andrew Amery is revered for his impact as Head of Security for the London Organising Committee of the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games. Back in 1994, Andrew began his career working as a Major Event Planner for the Metropolitan Police, building detailed expertise in the security and protection of physical objects. In this role, Andrew was responsible for public safety management and crisis planning for the Notting Hill Carnival, the world’s second-largest street event. In 1996, Andrew progressed to become a Protection Officer of senior members of the UK Royal Family for the Metropolitan Police, working both in the UK and abroad. In 2000, he was promoted to Major Event Protection Planner, responsible for planning security for events such as Trooping the Colour, the Queen Mother’s Funeral and HRH The Queen’s Golden Jubilee.

In 2003, Andrew was appointed as the Head of Security for the London 2012 Olympics bid, continuing in this role until 2013. During his ten years working for the Olympics, Andrew encountered all aspects of cyber security, from international relations to risk assessments. In 2013, Andrew became the Managing Director of Andrew Amery Ltd, a company specialising in providing security solutions, and in 2014 he became the Director and Co-Founder of R3S Global, another company delivering solutions to challenges in high profile and high risk situations.
